Currently January 2016

Well, its been a long time, dear blog.  I’m sorry I’ve been neglecting you.  Thanks to the Farley, at Oh Boy 4th Grade for shaking me out of my slump.

Listening: to the sounds of silence.  That’s right.  Everyone in my house is on the post-New Years, sleep in until 11 schedule.

Loving: college football season.  I don’t care much for sports these days, but I do love the college football and college basketball post season.  I enjoyed cheering my Bowling Green Falcons and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Thinking: about a destination for Spring Break with my family of teenagers.  The options are Nashville, Hilton Head, or Savanah.  Have a  recommendation?  Put it in the comments – I’d love your opinion!

Wanting: to go see the new Star Wars movie again.  I saw it the first week it came out and loved it.  The first Star Wars movie came out when I was little.  I remember my daycare taking us to see the Empire Strikes Back, and I was hooked.  I’m not a total Star Wars geek, and I almost never see a movie twice in the theater, but this one was just so much fun.
Needing: a break from holiday food.  First there was all the treats I got from students for Christmas.  Then it was food at my mom’s, dad’s, and in-laws for Christmas.  Then it was the New Year’s Eve spread.  Did I really just eat three of those mini cheesecakes? Everywhere I go there seems to be temptation.

One Little word: Love.  Like the Beatles said, it’s all you need.
I hope 2016 is your best year yet!

  1. Aw. I LOVE your one little word! And I completely agree! Sometimes I focus on my flaws and shortcomings and wonder how in the world my Kinders learned so much with such a (fill in the negative blank) teacher and the answer is LOVE! I try, try, try to give my students everything they need, but every year there is something I miss or don't hit hard enough and when they learn it anyway in all my inadequacy, I think, I has to be the love. I love teaching and learning and love those kiddos and they know it and their sponges seem to just absorb the knowledge! I think it is super important at home too, but I see the payoff more immediately at school! I don't have recommendation per se, but my daughter went to Nashville on a choir trip, she was 10, and loved it.

  2. My boys loved the Star Wars movie. My oldest wants to see it again. He saw Creed on NYE with friends and really like that one too. We usually go to FL for Spring Break because my ILs live there. We did go to the Smokie Mts a few years ago and stayed at the Wilderness Water Park. Loved that area. So beautiful and a 10 yr drive for us vs 20+ when we go to FL. Enjoy your last couple days off.
